Last chapter of our future, the sun about to set,
I carve your name in marble – so come to me, Odette!…
A warning to the lover, the night we were to met:
“One watchword is Forever!, the other one – Forget!”.
Dies down this faded echo, my fateful amorette;
Our past was never there – but come to me, Odette!…
The golden doors are open, the roses – mourning wet,
And though I know your answer, you did not answer yet.
Misplaced this present moment, dead cold this kiss to get;
Midwinter striking midnight, one lifeline to reset.
A threnody of angels, the love and the regret,
With all our fires freezing – I welcome you, O Death!

“Oliviu Crâznic is a true Romantic, a character descended form his own extraordinary and spectacular prose, a melange of Baudelaire, Edgar Allan Poe and Walter Scott, crafting his art under the scrutinizing eyes of Bram Stoker and H.P. Lovecraft. Read his novel, read his stories, and you will completely understand my statement!” (Șt. Ghidoveanu, Radio România Cultural`s Science Fiction and Fantasy specialist, in Galileo Online, Nov. 2012)
