W.E.N. S .: A Rotating Poem<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

West:\u00a0\u00a0 not unlike a giddy goat<\/p>\n

wandering among the ruins<\/p>\n

of a long lost civilization<\/p>\n

you keep searching<\/p>\n

in the central park<\/p>\n

a way out of the tall weeds<\/p>\n

as nature makes new york<\/p>\n

into a mummy blue<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

East:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 in her beehive-like room<\/p>\n

so small that a yawning stretch<\/p>\n

would readily awaken<\/p>\n

the whole apartment building<\/p>\n

she draws a picture on the wall<\/p>\n

of a tremendous tree<\/p>\n

that keeps growing<\/p>\n

until it shoots up<\/p>\n

from the cemented roof<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

North: after the storm<\/p>\n

all dust hung up<\/p>\n

in the crowded air<\/p>\n

with his human face<\/p>\n

frozen into a dot of dust<\/p>\n

and a rising speckle of dust<\/p>\n

melted into his face<\/p>\n

to avoid this cold climate<\/p>\n

of his antarctic dream<\/p>\n

he relocated his naked soul<\/p>\n

at the dawn of summer<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

South: like a raindrop<\/p>\n

on a small lotus leaf<\/p>\n

unable to find the spot<\/p>\n

to settle itself down<\/p>\n

in an early autumn shower<\/p>\n

my little canoe drifts around<\/p>\n

near the horizon<\/p>\n

beyond the bare bay<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Personality Programmed<\/strong><\/p>\n

– Believe it or not, the ancient Chinese 5-Agent Principle accounts for us all.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

1 Metal (born in a year ending in 0 or 1)<\/p>\n

-helps water but hinders wood; helped by earth but hindered by fire<\/em><\/p>\n

he used to be totally dull-colored<\/p>\n

because he came from the earth\u2019s inside<\/p>\n

now he has become a super-conductor<\/p>\n

for cold words, hot pictures and light itself<\/p>\n

all being transmitted through his throat<\/p>\n

-helps wood but hinders fire; helped by metal but hindered by earth<\/em><\/p>\n

with her transparent tenderness<\/p>\n

coded with colorless violence<\/p>\n

she is always ready to support<\/p>\n

or sink the powerful boat<\/p>\n

sailing south<\/p>\n

3 Wood (born in a year ending 4 or 5)<\/p>\n

-helps fire but hinders earth; helped by water but hindered by metal<\/em><\/p>\n

rings in rings have been opened or broken<\/p>\n

like echoes that roll from home to home<\/p>\n

each containing fragments of green<\/p>\n

trying to tell their tales<\/p>\n

from the forest\u2019s depths<\/p>\n

4 Fire (born in a year ending 6 or 7)<\/p>\n

-helps earth but hinders metal; helped by wood but hindered by water<\/em><\/p>\n

your soft power bursting from your ribcage<\/p>\n

as enthusiastic as a phoenix is supposed to be<\/p>\n

when you fly your lipless kisses<\/p>\n

you reach out your hearts<\/p>\n

until they are all broken<\/p>\n

i think not; therefore, I am not<\/p>\n

what I am, but I have a color<\/p>\n

the skin my heart wears inside out<\/p>\n

tattooed intricately<\/p>\n
