Mai t\u00e2rziu va urma studii de filosofie \u015fi litere la Universitatea din Buenos Aires, dar renun\u0163\u0103 f\u0103r\u0103 s\u0103 ob\u0163in\u0103 diploma, din motive financiare. Revine s\u0103 predea la dou\u0103 \u015fcoli din care una aflat\u0103 \u00een ora\u015ful Bolivar.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00cen 1938, sub pseudonimul Julio Denis, public\u0103 un prim volum de sonete &#8220;Prezen\u0163e&#8221;, de care se dezice mai t\u00e2rziu spun\u00e2nd \u00eentr-un interviu din1977 c\u0103 este singura sa carte ne-conform\u0103 cu principiul dup\u0103 care scrisul \u00eentr-o carte trebuie s\u0103 fie 100% fidel cu ce vrea autorul s\u0103 spun\u0103. \u00cen 1944 este numit profesor de francez\u0103 la Universitatea Na\u0163ional\u0103 din Cuyo-Mendoza, dar demisioneaz\u0103 dup\u0103 numai doi ani sub presiunile politice ale regimului Peron.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mai lucreaz\u0103 ca traduc\u0103tor pentru Camera de Comer\u0163, iar \u00een 1949 public\u0103 o pies\u0103 de teatru bazat\u0103 pe povestea mitologic\u0103 a lui Tezeu \u015fi a Minotaurului, cu numele &#8220;Regii&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Emigreaz\u0103 \u00een Fran\u0163a (1951) unde va r\u0103m\u00e2ne pentru tot restul vie\u0163ii. A lucrat la UNESCO ca traduc\u0103tor. Operele sale majore le scrie la Paris si la Saignon \u00een sudul Fran\u0163ei. Printre ele g\u0103sim numeroase povestiri scurte: &#8220;Bestiario&#8221; (1951), &#8220;Finalul jocului&#8221; (1956), &#8220;Armele secrete&#8221; (1959), &#8220;Un oarecare Lucas&#8221; (1979). Devine celebru pentru colec\u0163iile de proz\u0103 scurt\u0103, Gabriel Garc\u00eda M\u00e1rquez scriind despre el: &#8220;Este un idol care treze\u015fte dragoste, dar \u015fi mari invidii. \u00cen plus, inspir\u0103 un sentiment pu\u0163in obi\u015fnuit: devotamentul. A fost argentinianul care a \u015ftiut s\u0103 se fac\u0103 iubit de toat\u0103 lumea&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Se \u00eensoar\u0103 \u00een 1953 cu Aurora Bern\u00e1rdez, argentinian\u0103, traduc\u0103toare \u015fi ea. Dup\u0103 divor\u0163, cunoa\u015fte o scriitoare \u015fi produc\u0103toare de film din Lituania, Ugn\u0117 Karvelis cu care tr\u0103ie\u015fte f\u0103r\u0103 o c\u0103s\u0103torie formal\u0103. Dup\u0103 1960 public\u0103 patru romane: &#8220;C\u00e2\u015ftig\u0103torii&#8221;, &#8221; Hopscotch&#8221;, &#8221; Manual pentru Manuel&#8221; , &#8220;62: Model de Asamblat&#8221;. Alte dou\u0103 romane \u00eei vor ap\u0103rea postum: &#8220;Examenul&#8221; \u015fi &#8220;Premiile&#8221;. &#8220;Hopscotch&#8221; este o carte special\u0103 care invit\u0103 cititorul s\u0103 aleag\u0103 \u00eentre modurile linear sau aleator al citirii. Acela\u015fi stil va fi folosit \u015fi de al\u0163i scriitori Latino-Americani ca Jos\u00e9 Lezama Lima, Carlos Fuentes, Gabriel Garc\u00eda M\u00e1rquez \u015fi Mario Vargas Llosa.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cort\u00e1zar folose\u015fte substan\u0163ial monologul interior c\u00e2t \u015fi luciditatea con\u015ftiin\u0163ei a\u015fa cum \u00eenv\u0103\u0163ase de la James Joyce \u015fi al\u0163i moderni\u015fti. Este influen\u0163at de Suprareali\u015fti, de Noul Roman Francez, dar \u015fi de improviza\u0163iile jazzului. Nu \u00eent\u00e2mpl\u0103tor povestirea &#8220;Urm\u0103ritorul&#8221; este bazat\u0103 pe via\u0163a saxofonistului american Charlie Parker. A mai scris poezie, drame \u015fi multe fic\u0163iuni de o imagina\u0163ie debordant\u0103, cu care a uimit cititorii (de exemplu &#8220;Povestiri cu Cronopii \u015fi Speran\u0163e&#8221;).
