(Sisyphus sits on a stone block beside a stream. He glances over it, spotting a strange figure on the opposite shore)<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS(Elated): Hello over there, my fellow friend! May I help you?<\/p>\n

TANTALUS: Greetings camarade<\/em>! I am looking for a stone.<\/p>\n

(Sisyphus scratches his head. After a few moments of silence he sighs)<\/p>\n

TANTALUS: Have you thought about it?<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: About what?<\/p>\n

TANTALUS: About the stone.<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: You look familiar.<\/p>\n

TANTALUS: I can say the same thing about you.<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: I am Sisyphus.<\/p>\n

TANTALUS: Of course you are! I am Tantalus!<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: Of course I am!<\/p>\n

TANTALUS(Disappointed): Well, that must be baneful.<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: What?<\/p>\n

TANTALUS(Laughing): Pretending to exist<\/p>\n

(Silence)<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: So, the stone.<\/p>\n

TANTALUS: Yes<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: How does it look.<\/p>\n

TANTALUS(Gesturing impatient): Round and big. Last time I have seen the stone, it was falling down the valley.<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS(Confused): I have no clue.<\/p>\n

TANTALUS: Thereby, you can not help me?<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: Of course I can! I have the answer!<\/p>\n

(Tantalus waiting for the answer)<\/p>\n

TANTALUS(Shouting): What is the answer?<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: I do not know.<\/p>\n

TANTALUS: You claim owning the answer, meanwhile you do not know it?<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: Exactly.<\/p>\n

TANTALUS: Now all does make sense.<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: Forsooth?<\/p>\n

TANTALUS: Yes<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: How so?<\/p>\n

TANTALUS: If nothing makes sense at all, there is nothing to be wrong, therefore meaningless and absurdism sprinkled with nothingness is the root of a happy existence.<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: Would you mind if I drink some water?<\/p>\n

TANTALUS(Disturbed): I would prefer not to.<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: Why not?<\/p>\n

TANTALUS: Wine is healthier.<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS(Feebly): Infeasible…<\/p>\n

TANTALUS: Of course it is! We need some bread.<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS(Wrathful): That’s mockery!<\/p>\n

TANTALUS: Ambrosia? It’s edible and you can drink it too.<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: It’s only for gods.<\/p>\n

TANTALUS: You could be one of them.<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: Everyone could be.<\/p>\n

(Silence)<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: Would you mind if I ask you something?<\/p>\n

TANTALUS: You already did it.<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: Oh, right. Silly me.<\/p>\n

TANTALUS: Very silly.<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: Such foolish.<\/p>\n

TANTALUS: Very foolish!<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: You know what else is foolish?<\/p>\n

TANTALUS: I have a sketchy idea.<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: Having desires. Seeking for a reason to overwhelm your nonsense.<\/p>\n

TANTALUS: Well, that has to be miserable.<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: Sorrowfully, humanity’s grievances are not concerning what we do while living. It’s all about death and decay.<\/p>\n

TANTALUS: I used to be in touch with humanity.<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: Didn’t we all?<\/p>\n

TANTALUS: Does this make us inhuman?<\/p>\n

(Silence)<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: You have two legs.<\/p>\n

TANTALUS: As you can see.<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: Two hands.<\/p>\n

TANTALUS: I can relate.<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: And a head.<\/p>\n

TANTALUS: Eminently<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: Congratulations!<\/p>\n

TANTALUS: This is fallacy.<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: What does it really mean to be human?<\/p>\n

TANTALUS: Beeing free to do anything and moral at the same time.<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: Humanity doesn’t come with morality.<\/p>\n

TANTALUS: What about freedom? Liberty? And free will?<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: A hoax perpetrated. You are free to know that you are the prisoner of own desires. One must imagine man not being deceived by himself.<\/p>\n

TANTALUS: Do you feel any kind of aversion regarding humanity?<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: Ceaslessly. The resemblance between humanity and ignorance is limpid enough to let the disdain glistening and glowing over fulfillment.<\/p>\n

TANTALUS(Sighs): Still, the stone. Where is the stone?<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: The stone?<\/p>\n

TANTALUS: Yes. The stone.<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: That stone which is round and big?<\/p>\n

TANTALUS(Elated): Yes!<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: The one which was falling down the valley?<\/p>\n

TANTALUS(Clapping): Exactly!<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: You won’t believe me if I tell you.<\/p>\n

TANTALUS(Unpatient): Do it!<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: Are you sure?<\/p>\n

TANTALUS: Of course I am!<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: Now who is pretending to exist?<\/p>\n

TANTALUS(Resentful): You tell me or not?<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: What?<\/p>\n

TANTALUS(Wrathful): Where is the stone!?<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS(Calm): I don’t know.<\/p>\n

TANTALUS: Then what you were about to say regarding the stone.<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: I forgot.<\/p>\n

(Suddenly, after all huffing and puffing, Tantalus becomes calm and rational)<\/p>\n

TANTALUS: We all forget things.<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: I would like to forget my eternal damnation and forsake my curse of living.<\/p>\n

TANTALUS: What keeps you alive?<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: Nothing.<\/p>\n

(Silence)<\/p>\n

TANTALUS: What kind of damnation you have?<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS(Smiling): Every day, I am condemned to roll a stone up to a hill and watch it fall. Every sweat drip is hopeless. My fate is to swing ceaslessly between two chasms. Henceforth, my verdict is to find meaning in suffering and futility. I am Sisyphus.<\/p>\n

TANTALUS: You’re smiling.<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: Yes.<\/p>\n

TANTALUS: You must be happy.<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS: They say so.<\/p>\n

TANTALUS: So.<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS(Curious): So?<\/p>\n

TANTALUS: Where is the stone?<\/p>\n

SISYPHUS(Confused): I have no clue.<\/p>\n
