Friday night patio party.<\/p>\n

Drinks with the server crew.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Exterminator untangles<\/p>\n

cords behind the stereo,<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

a glowing green-eyed demon,<\/p>\n

excited to unleash<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

a swarm of houseflies<\/p>\n

into our ears.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Finger<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

at our local bar<\/p>\n

you put my finger<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

in your mouth<\/p>\n

and suck<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

apart from<\/p>\n

your partner<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

this now lingers<\/p>\n

in my mind<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

takes a field day<\/p>\n

in my dreams<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

because<\/p>\n

I had a crush<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

and this kind of touch<\/p>\n

will lead me where<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I must go no<\/p>\n

longer<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Photographs of Layzerus<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

were supposed to have fountains<\/p>\n

not just in Santa Clarita, but<\/p>\n

in Akron, too, a missed<\/p>\n

moment against a brick wall<\/p>\n

of self the undermined<\/p>\n

understanding of art<\/p>\n

versus creator, physical<\/p>\n

creation versus memory<\/p>\n

music I sang to create<\/p>\n

a sentiment of dust<\/p>\n

wood waddles<\/p>\n

down the path<\/p>\n

a vastness<\/p>\n

walking<\/p>\n

end to end<\/p>\n

After<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I want more\u2013 god,<\/p>\n

our nights on the patio<\/p>\n

are memory\u2019s reruns.<\/p>\n

I want it back: you,<\/p>\n

your hand secretly<\/p>\n

caressing my chest<\/p>\n

beside the dead firepit.<\/p>\n

Everything. You asked<\/p>\n

to craft me a drink<\/p>\n

with Firefly whiskey.<\/p>\n

You made it strong<\/p>\n

& asked if I could<\/p>\n

withstand this. No\u2013<\/p>\n

I\u2019m weak. Each kiss<\/p>\n

that night, your lips<\/p>\n

sudden, brief\u2013 through<\/p>\n

the crowd we looked<\/p>\n

for each other, making<\/p>\n

a game of running<\/p>\n

around the kitchen island<\/p>\n

to never catch the other,<\/p>\n

but how close we were<\/p>\n

to giving our all. This<\/p>\n

close to telling you<\/p>\n

I never could get over<\/p>\n

you. But here\u2019s<\/p>\n
