Hadrian este un bun organizator, posed\u0103 cultur\u0103, \u00ee\u0219i \u00eencepe via\u021ba ca un stoic, dar, pe m\u0103sur\u0103 ce prinde gustul lumii, se transform\u0103 \u00eentr-un\u00a0 hedonist \u00een c\u0103utarea frumuse\u021bii \u0219i a pl\u0103cerilor.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hadrian a fost admirat \u00een timpul vie\u021bii, dar \u0219i dup\u0103 moartea lui, a fost ur\u00e2t \u0219i desconsiderat\u00a0 \u00een via\u021b\u0103, c\u00e2t \u0219i dup\u0103. Probabil, nici nu ne putem a\u0219tepta la altceva de la stoicul Marcus Aurelius \u0219i medita\u021biile lui.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hadrian este un om de ac\u021biune, de\u0219i pu\u021bin interesat s\u0103 l\u0103rgeasc\u0103 prin conflicte cuceririle belicosului Traian, ci doar s\u0103 le administreze \u0219i s\u0103 le p\u0103streze neatinse. Nu neglijeaz\u0103 \u00eens\u0103 ap\u0103rarea grani\u021belor, fiind responsabil pentru <em>Limes dacicus<\/em> \u0219i pentru zidul de la frontiera nordica a Imperiului Roman, <em>Vallum Aelium, <\/em>care-i poart\u0103 \u0219i ast\u0103zi numele.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Nu este perfect \u00eens\u0103, este uman, iar dragostea, chiar dac\u0103 apare de cele mai multe ori ca trec\u0103toare, nu \u00eenseamn\u0103 c\u0103 nu poate fi \u0219i ad\u00e2nc\u0103, \u0219i dureroas\u0103. Sim\u021beam cum \u00een jur cre\u0219tea enervarea fa\u021b\u0103 de durerea-mi at\u00e2t de lung\u0103: intensitatea ei producea de altminteri mai mult\u0103 indignare dec\u00e2t cauza. Este \u00eens\u0103 vorba despre el sau despre Yourcenar? Este vocea lui sau a ei, cea pe care o auzim printre r\u00e2nduri? Unele idei par foarte moderne \u0219i atunci o putem b\u0103nui pe autoare c\u0103 a preluat controlul asupra personajului ei, \u00eens\u0103 aceste momente sunt pu\u021bine \u0219i, oricum, pentru cititorul modern nu au foarte mare importan\u021b\u0103.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Un element pl\u0103cut, \u0219i care ilustreaz\u0103 foarte bine m\u0103iestria cu care a fost scris\u0103 aceast\u0103 carte, se afl\u0103 \u00een ultimul paragraf, care este, de fapt, o rescriere \u00een proz\u0103 a unei poezii din <em>Historia Augusta<\/em>, presupus\u0103 a fi fost scris\u0103 de Hadrian cu pu\u021bin \u00eenaintea mor\u021bii sale.
