Georg (Georgius), cunoscut sub diferite nume, se na\u0219te \u00een 1422, \u00een apropierea ora\u0219ului Sebe\u0219, iar la 15 ani particip\u0103 la asediul asupra ora\u0219ului. O\u0219tile otomane\u00a0 \u00eenconjoar\u0103 Sebe\u0219ul, iar Vlad Dracul, domnul \u021a\u0103rii Rom\u00e2ne\u0219ti, negociaz\u0103 pentru or\u0103\u0219eni o capitulare pe care un grup de tineri nu o accept\u0103. Dintre ace\u0219tia face parte \u0219i Georg, care reu\u0219e\u0219te s\u0103 supravie\u021buiasc\u0103 dup\u0103 ce turnul \u00een care se refugiase este incendiat. Tratatul s\u0103u este scris \u00een 1480, c\u00e2nd flota otoman\u0103 cucere\u0219te portul Otranto \u0219i masacreaz\u0103 locuitorii, un moment care cerea o lucrare care s\u0103 explice credin\u021bele \u0219i via\u021ba du\u0219manilor cu care se confruntau.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Povestea felului \u00een care Georg ajunge sclav este spus\u0103 chiar \u00een prolog (<em>Prologus<\/em>), iar prefa\u021ba (<em>Prohemium<\/em>) explic\u0103 motivul pentru care a \u00eenceput redactarea acestui tratat:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201eA\u0219adar, planul meu \u00een acest tratat este s\u0103 \u00eencredin\u021bez amintirii \u0219i scrisului cele pe care experien\u021ba mi le-a dat ca \u00eenv\u0103\u021b\u0103tur\u0103 asupra faptelor, ceremoniilor, obiceiurilor \u0219i infamiilor\u00a0 turcilor, pentru ca, dac\u0103 a\u0219 c\u0103dea a doua oar\u0103 \u00een m\u00e2inile lor,\u00a0 la b\u0103tr\u00e2ne\u021be \u2013 s\u0103\u00a0 m\u0103 fereasc\u0103 Dumnezeu, cu toate c\u0103 eu \u00eenc\u0103 m\u0103 tem \u00een de ajuns de asta \u2013\u00a0 s\u0103 m\u0103 pot p\u0103zi de\u00a0 gre\u0219elile lor mai bine dec\u00e2t am f\u0103cut-o \u00een tinere\u021be.\u201d (trad. Humanistas, 2017)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <em>Tractatus de moribus<\/em> cunoa\u0219te mai multe edi\u021bii, \u00eent\u00e2i \u00een latin\u0103, \u00eentre 1481 \u0219i 1550, apoi \u00een german\u0103, 1530-31, lucrarea devenind una dintre cele mai importante surse documentare despre Imperiul Otoman.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Dincolo de informa\u021biile oferite de tratat, \u0219i care sunt de cele mai multe ori corecte, unele capitole au valoare memorialistic\u0103, furniz\u00e2nd detalii legate de soarta\u00a0 prizonierilor \u0219i a robilor \u00een Imperiul Otoman. Georg este v\u00e2ndut ca sclav, \u00eencearc\u0103 s\u0103 fug\u0103 de mai multe ori, chiar \u0219i trece \u00een revist\u0103 posibilit\u0103\u021bile pe care le avea un rob pentru a se elibera \u0219i preg\u0103tirile pe care acesta ar fi trebuit s\u0103 le fac\u0103.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Vorbe\u0219te despre o \u201eo\u0219tire\u201d\u00a0 pe care o au otomanii, format\u0103 din 20-30 de mii de oameni, a c\u0103ror menire este s\u0103 \u00eentreprind\u0103 raiduri de noapte pentru a face rost de sclavi (cap. v). De asemenea, exist\u0103 negustori care opereaz\u0103 nu numai \u00een cet\u0103\u021bi sau \u00een t\u00e2rgurile de sclavi, ci urmeaz\u0103 armata pentru a cump\u0103ra\u00a0 prizonierii c\u00e2t mai repede, deoarece r\u0103pitorii nu se pot \u00eengriji de ei \u0219i \u00eei v\u0103d doar ca pe o surs\u0103 de venit. Pre\u021bul acestor prizonieri depinde foarte mult de num\u0103rul lor, iar \u00een cazul unei capturi mari oamenii ajung s\u0103 se v\u00e2nd\u0103 la pre\u021bul unei cu\u0219me.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Capitolul al \u0219aselea poveste\u0219te pe larg tragedia sclavilor, iar \u00een capitolul al \u0219aptelea se vorbe\u0219te despre \u201el\u0103comia\u201d turcilor pentru robi \u0219i slujnice, astfel \u00eenc\u00e2t pu\u021bine sunt gospod\u0103riile \u00een care s\u0103 nu se afle \u0219i unii, \u0219i ceilal\u021bi. Este normal, deci, ca robii s\u0103 \u00eencerce s\u0103 se elibereze, iar\u00a0 Georg trece prin numeroase astfel de \u00eencerc\u0103ri, de aceea informa\u021biile oferite sunt bazate \u00een primul r\u00e2nd pe propria experien\u021b\u0103. Modalit\u0103\u021bile de a rec\u0103p\u0103ta libertatea sunt multiple, de la fug\u0103, care este pedepsit\u0103 cu cruzime, la a\u0219a numita \u201e\u00een\u021belegere de eliberare\u201d, <em>mukataba<\/em>, un act care ofer\u0103 libertatea dup\u0103 un num\u0103r de ani petrecu\u021bi \u00een robie. Ace\u0219ti robi elibera\u021bi nu pot \u00eens\u0103 s\u0103 p\u0103r\u0103seasc\u0103 Imperiul Otoman, a\u0219a c\u0103 singurele posibilit\u0103\u021bi de a se \u00eentoarce acas\u0103 sunt s\u0103 cumpere un act de la preo\u021bii cre\u0219tini sau s\u0103 se lase pe m\u00e2na unor oameni care s\u0103 \u00eei scoat\u0103 pe ascuns din \u021bar\u0103.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Informa\u021biile date de Georg nu se opresc \u00eens\u0103 la problema sclaviei, ci sunt mult mai detaliate.\u00a0 \u00cen primele dou\u0103 capitole, vorbe\u0219te despre originile turcilor \u0219i modul \u00een care ace\u0219tia au cucerit teritorii, iar mai t\u00e2rziu descrie corpul ienicerilor,\u00a0 pe care \u00eei nume\u0219te <em>gingitsheri<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Georg reu\u0219e\u0219te s\u0103 fug\u0103 de la primul lui st\u0103p\u00e2n, dup\u0103 o alt\u0103 \u00eencercare nereu\u0219it\u0103, din care scap\u0103 f\u0103r\u0103 o pedeaps\u0103 foarte mare, fiind\u00a0 protejat de cele dou\u0103 surori\u00a0 ale acestuia. Primii sunt credincio\u0219ii care nu sunt deloc interesa\u021bi de Islam, iar credin\u021ba lor r\u0103m\u00e2ne neschimbat\u0103, cei de ai doilea sunt cei m\u00e2na\u021bi de curiozitate \u0219i care studiaz\u0103 credin\u021bele \u0219i obiceiurile musulmanilor, \u00eens\u0103 inteligen\u021ba \u00eei ap\u0103r\u0103 s\u0103 \u00ee\u0219i renege propria credin\u021b\u0103. \u00cen a treia categorie, se afl\u0103 cei a c\u0103ror curiozitate \u00eei face s\u0103 se aplece mult prea mult asupra studierii religiei musulmane \u0219i astfel \u00ee\u0219i pierd credin\u021ba, mai\u00a0 ales c\u0103 au \u0219i numeroase foloase dac\u0103 se convertesc. Georg m\u0103rturise\u0219te c\u0103 a fost \u0219i el atras de Islam, dar \u0219i-a revenit la timp \u0219i a reu\u0219it s\u0103 fereasc\u0103 de apostazie c\u00e2t timp a mai tr\u0103it \u00een Imperiul Otoman.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Tratatul este, dup\u0103 cum spuneam, plin de informa\u021bii care pentru secolul XV-lea au constituit o adev\u0103rat\u0103 min\u0103 de aur, m\u0103rturie a aprecierii \u00een epoc\u0103 st\u00e2nd \u0219i num\u0103rul mare de edi\u021bii, dar \u0219i faptul c\u0103 p\u0103r\u021bi din el au fost preluate ulterior de mai mul\u021bi autori.
