Floating on a river. Sickly shimmers<\/p>\n
Fancifully pass from wave to wave<\/p>\n
The night of groves behind me<\/p>\n
The royal dome in front.<\/p>\n

On the enchanted island<\/p>\n
Black sacred vaults arise<\/p>\n
Moon gleams above long walls<\/p>\n
Filling the corners with shade.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I climb the stairs and enter<\/p>\n
Deep silence meets my step.<\/p>\n
Through dark I see high<\/p>\n
Saintly figures over the altar screen.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Under the great vault a single<\/p>\n
Fire seed just shining;<\/p>\n
In front of it a cross<\/p>\n
And darkness in any other spot.<\/p>\n

From the above choir is falling<\/p>\n
The saddest song on cold walls.<\/p>\n
As a devout lamentation<\/p>\n
For the eternal slumber.<\/p>\n

Through the sad noise I glimpse<\/p>\n
Softly, beneath the veil, a sleeping face<\/p>\n

Dressed in white royal garment.<\/p>\n
