Definea, \u00een epoc\u0103, pe fiii domnitorilor Principatelor. \u00cen literatura istoric\u0103, apare \u00een romanul <em>Zodia cancerului, sau vremea Duc\u0103i Vod\u0103<\/em>, de Mihail Sadoveanu, publicat pentru prima dat\u0103 \u00een 1929. Dl Sorin-Mihai Grad, unul din liderii EgoPHobia, citeaz\u0103 o surs\u0103 a c\u0103rei limb\u0103 matern\u0103 e farsi, care explic\u0103 originea turco-persan\u0103 a cuv\u00e2ntului. <em>Bey<\/em> sau <em>Beyg<\/em> \u00een turc\u0103 \u00eenseamn\u0103 <em>prin\u0163,<\/em> sau \u00een sens extins, <em>\u015fef, lider<\/em>.
