Bejan, <em>Intelectualii \u0219i fascismul \u00een Rom\u00e2nia interbelic\u0103<\/em>, Litera, 2023]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\">de Valentina Negoi\u021b\u0103<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00cen jurnalul s\u0103u din perioada 1931-1947, Petru Comarnescu imagineaz\u0103 o carte despre genera\u021bia sa \u0219i despre activitatea Criterion din toamna lui 1932, iar \u00een 1949, Constantin Noica \u00eel va \u00eencuraja s\u0103 revin\u0103 la aceast\u0103 ini\u021biativ\u0103 permanent am\u00e2nat\u0103 pe motiv c\u0103 T\u00e2n\u0103ra Genera\u021bie era \u00eenc\u0103&#8230; t\u00e2n\u0103r\u0103. Aproape 8 decenii mai t\u00e2rziu de la \u00eendemnul lui Noica, Cristina A. Bejan va scrie aceast\u0103 important\u0103 lucrare, bucur\u00e2ndu-se de o introducere apar\u021bin\u00e2nd lui Norman Manea \u0219i de o prefa\u021b\u0103 semnat\u0103 de Vladimir Tism\u0103neanu, care va acoperi o mare lacun\u0103 monografic\u0103 din istoria cultural\u0103 a Rom\u00e2niei.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00cen acest demers, autoarea rom\u00e2no-american\u0103 porne\u0219te pe urmele celei mai cunoscute \u0219i mai idolatrizate genera\u021bii ale culturii noastre, f\u0103c\u00e2nd din p\u0103rintele Asocia\u021biei Criterion, Petru Comarnescu, un personaj reflector cu care a rezonat la un nivel mai profund dec\u00e2t cu un Eliade sau un Cioran, tocmai prin prisma aplec\u0103rii acestuia c\u0103tre cultura american\u0103 (\u00een 1929, Comarnescu va deveni doctorand la University of Southern California, unde a absolvit dup\u0103 doi ani cu o lucrare intitulat\u0103 <em>Kalokagathon<\/em> \u00een care analiza, dup\u0103 cum spune \u0219i titlul, rela\u021bia frumos-bine). Perioada din Los Angeles i-a oferit celui care avea s\u0103 fie \u021binta odioaselor atacuri din <em>scandalul Credin\u021ba <\/em>o perspectiv\u0103 de centru-st\u00e2nga, care-l va apropia \u00een anii rinoceriz\u0103rii Rom\u00e2niei de un Ionesco \u0219i de un Sebastian.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cristina A. Bejan urm\u0103re\u0219te destinul celor care aveau s\u0103 fie cunoscu\u021bi drept <em>criterioni\u0219ti<\/em> \u00eenc\u0103 din 1920: \u201e\u00een Rom\u00e2nia, pledoaria pentru o substan\u021b\u0103 spiritual\u0103 rom\u00e2neasc\u0103 specific\u0103, na\u021bional\u0103, a \u00eenceput odat\u0103 cu introducerea [\u2026] de c\u0103tre Vasile P\u00e2rvan \u0219i al\u021bii, a termenului <em>\u00e9lan vital <\/em>sus\u021binut de Bergson \u00een Fran\u021ba \u0219i a celui german <em>Lebensphilosophie<\/em>. Interpretarea rom\u00e2neasc\u0103 a fenomenului a fost cunoscut\u0103 mai \u00eent\u00e2i sub numele de <em>tr\u0103ire<\/em> apoi sub acela de <em>experien\u021b\u0103<a href=\"#_ftn1\" name=\"_ftnref1\"><strong>[1]<\/strong><\/a><\/em>. Acest curent filosofic a structurat de o manier\u0103 semnificativ\u0103 discu\u021biile din interiorul Tinerei Genera\u021bii de la sf\u00e2r\u0219itul anilor 1920 \u0219i discursul ei \u00een cadrul Asocia\u021biei Criterion la \u00eenceputul anilor 1930.\u201d<a href=\"#_ftn2\" name=\"_ftnref2\">[2]<\/a> Acest tr\u0103irism va marca aproape obsesiv imaginarul tinerilor intelectuali, ale c\u0103ror programe spirituale (\u201e\u00abItinerariu spiritual\u00bb, scris de Eliade \u00een 1926 \u0219i \u00abManifestul Crinului Alb\u00bb, scris de Petre Pandrea, Sorin Pavel \u0219i Ion Nistor \u00een 1928\u201d<a href=\"#_ftn3\" name=\"_ftnref3\">[3]<\/a>) pline de idealism anun\u021bau, totu\u0219i, o criz\u0103 religioas\u0103 care, \u00eempreun\u0103 cu al\u021bi factori pe care autoarea \u00eei analizeaz\u0103 sistematic, vor conduce la alunecarea multora dintre ace\u0219ti intelectuali, majoritatea urm\u00e2nd studii \u00een Occident, c\u0103tre gardism. \u00centr-un asemenea climat dominat \u00een r\u00e2ndul acestora de aspira\u021bie ascensional\u0103, pe fundalul unei culturi mult prea mici \u0219i umbrite de Vest, conferin\u021bele Forum s-au transformat \u00een Asocia\u021bia Criterion, (\u201e\u00eentre ai c\u0103rei membri ini\u021biali s-au enumerat Comarnescu, Florina Capsali, Eliade, Vulc\u0103nescu, Cioran, Noica, Tell, Ion Cantacuzino \u0219i Stahl\u201d<a href=\"#_ftn4\" name=\"_ftnref4\">[4]<\/a>), al c\u0103rei public de la Funda\u021biile Regale devenea din ce \u00een ce mai mare, p\u00e2n\u0103 c\u00e2nd au \u00eenceput s\u0103 devin\u0103 problematice. Bejan, asemenea unui martor t\u0103cut, descrie pe larg subiectele \u0219i atmosfera conferin\u021belor, \u00een special a simpozioanelor <em>Idoli<\/em>, \u00een care s-au enumerat nume precum Lenin, Chaplin, Mussolini, Gide, Val\u00e9ry, Bergson, Krishnamurti (\u201epe care Sorana \u021aopa \u00eel \u00eent\u00e2lnise \u00een 1932\u201d<a href=\"#_ftn5\" name=\"_ftnref5\">[5]<\/a>), Garbo, Proust, Spengler, Gandhi \u0219i Picasso \u0219i care au atras inclusiv interven\u021bia organelor statului pentru a fi \u00eempiedicate.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00cen 1990, preotul iezuit Anthony de Mello \u00eel aminte\u0219te pe Krishnamurti astfel: \u201cThe great Krishnamurti put it so well when he said, \u00abThe day you teach the child the name of the bird, the child will never see that bird again\u00bb\u201d<a href=\"#_ftn6\" name=\"_ftnref6\">[6]<\/a>, referindu-se la pericolul conceptualiz\u0103rii de a \u0219tirbi ideea de propria sa esen\u021b\u0103 \u0219i, ulterior, de mister. \u00cen contextul volumului discutat, punerea reflectorului pe \u00eentreaga activitate a criterioni\u0219tilor, chiar \u0219i dup\u0103 dizolvarea Asocia\u021biei din urma scandalului pornit de Florina Capsali reprezint\u0103 un demers de-a dreptul necesar, chiar dac\u0103 incomod; demistificarea cultului creat \u00een jurul genera\u021biei lui Eliade nu are rolul de a nega, sub nicio form\u0103, meritele filosofilor de a ridica standardul cultural rom\u00e2nesc, reu\u0219ind s\u0103-l apropie de cel european mai mult dec\u00e2t o f\u0103cuser\u0103 cei din urm\u0103 (de la pa\u0219opti\u0219ti \u0219i junimi\u0219ti \u0219i p\u00e2n\u0103 la \u201e\u00abGenera\u021bia Sacrificat\u0103\u00bb, cu Nae Ionescu, Lucian Blaga, Nichifor Crainic, Ion Marin Sadoveanu, Mihai Ralea\u201d<a href=\"#_ftn7\" name=\"_ftnref7\">[7]<\/a>). \u00cen egal\u0103 m\u0103sur\u0103 de important de men\u021bionat este \u0219i faptul c\u0103 volumul Cristinei A. Bejan este unul istorico-social-politic \u0219i nu urm\u0103re\u0219te analiza filosofic\u0103 sau critica literar\u0103\/artistic\u0103 a personalit\u0103\u021bilor studiate. Ea realizeaz\u0103 cu maxim\u0103 obiectivitate o cercetare exhaustiv\u0103, pornind de la o bibliografie vast\u0103, incluz\u00e2nd surse primare \u0219i de referin\u021b\u0103 (autobiografii \u0219i jurnale, documente de arhiv\u0103 de la Biblioteca Academiei Rom\u00e2ne, Muzeul Na\u021bional al Literaturii Rom\u00e2ne, Consiliul Na\u021bional pentru Studierea Arhivelor Securit\u0103\u021bii, Centre for Advanced Holocaust Studies, Washington D.C., precum \u0219i alte arhive \u0219i publica\u021bii oficiale relevante) care, aduse laolalt\u0103, clarific\u0103 motivele orient\u0103rii c\u0103tre legionarism (\u0219i, eventual, abandonul sau schimbarea afilierii politice) a fiec\u0103ruia dintre ace\u0219ti oameni de cultur\u0103 \u00een parte.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Revenind la figura lui Comarnescu, Bejan \u00eei face dreptate \u00een urma atacurilor calomnioase din scandalul <em>Credin\u021ba<\/em>, \u00een care Sandu Tudor \u0219i Zaharia Stancu \u00eei denigreaz\u0103 pe acesta \u0219i pe Negry, pe Vulc\u0103nescu \u0219i pe Tell, acuz\u00e2ndu-i de homosexualitate \u00eentr-o manier\u0103 grosolan\u0103, incident care a dus, ulterior, inclusiv la destr\u0103marea Asocia\u021biei Criterion. Fiind cel mai afectat \u0219i, de fapt, \u021binta principal\u0103, Comarnescu poate fi privit ca primul B\u00e9ranger, o victim\u0103 a ceea ce am numi ast\u0103zi <em>cancel culture <\/em>avant la lettre \u00een spa\u021biul rom\u00e2nesc. De asemenea, autoarea discut\u0103 \u0219i despre formele prieteniei masculine a acestor fo\u0219ti colegi de liceu \u0219i de facultate ca \u201eapropiere care poate \u00eembr\u0103ca multe forme: rela\u021bie \u00eentre mentor \u0219i discipol; prietenie homoerotic\u0103; \u00abrela\u021bie\u00bb homosexual\u0103 a\u0219a cum o \u00een\u021belegem azi; simpl\u0103 prietenie platonic\u0103 sau prietenie afi\u0219at\u0103 public de dragul aparen\u021belor.\u201d<a href=\"#_ftn8\" name=\"_ftnref8\">[8]<\/a> Dac\u0103 Sarah Cole asociaz\u0103 acest gen de camaraderie cu dinamica dintre <em>Vladimir \u0219i Estragon <\/em>ai lui Beckett<a href=\"#_ftn9\" name=\"_ftnref9\">[9]<\/a>, eu a\u0219 asem\u0103na-o mai degrab\u0103 cu cea dintre Gerald Crich \u0219i Rupert Birkin ai lui D. H. Lawrence, \u00een special \u00een ceea ce-i prive\u0219te pe Comarnescu \u0219i pe Noica.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nu \u00een ultimul r\u00e2nd, autoarea acord\u0103 o aten\u021bie special\u0103 \u0219i femeilor de la Criterion, de multe ori ignorate, inclusiv Mariettei Sadova, so\u021bia lui Haig Acterian, probabil cea mai convins\u0103 \u0219i activ\u0103 legionar\u0103 \u0219i sus\u021bin\u0103toare a lui Codreanu. Na\u021bionalismul s\u0103u exacerbat a dus la un antisemitism crunt, la binecunoscuta tr\u0103dare fa\u021b\u0103 de Lucia Demetrius pe motiv c\u0103 era evreic\u0103, dar \u0219i la crearea propriului \u201ecuib\u201d legionar al\u0103turi de Mary Polihroniade, Domnica Negru\u021bi, Marieta Rare\u0219, M\u0103rioara Ionescu, Costina Constantinescu \u0219i altele<a href=\"#_ftn10\" name=\"_ftnref10\">[10]<\/a> pentru a sus\u021bine cauza.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00cen contextul social \u0219i politic actual, cartea Cristinei A. Bejan devine o lectur\u0103 necesar\u0103 pentru oricine, de\u0219i poate provoca reac\u021bii afective puternice, dat fiind c\u0103 v\u00e2rfurile culturii rom\u00e2ne\u0219ti pot fi percepute drept lezate. La o lectur\u0103 obiectiv\u0103 \u0219i deta\u0219at\u0103, cititorul este dator s\u0103 \u00een\u021beleag\u0103 faptul c\u0103 volumul reprezint\u0103 un studiu social, raportat la realit\u0103\u021bile unor vremuri umbrite de ideologii extremiste, \u00een care mul\u021bi dintre ace\u0219ti tineri suferind, deseori, de complexe mesianice, s-au l\u0103sat tr\u0103i\u021bi de istorie, a\u0219a cum le va repro\u0219a Eug\u00e8ne Ionesco de nenum\u0103rate ori \u0219i a\u0219a cum vor \u0219i recunoa\u0219te unii dintre ace\u0219tia.
