Atunci a fost nevoie de cunoa\u015ftere, din ce \u00een ce mai legat\u0103 de via\u0163\u0103 dar neomi\u0163\u00e2nd \u00eentreb\u0103rile metafizice, \u015fi atunci s-a constituit aceast\u0103 cunoa\u015ftere prin <em>disputele <\/em>dintre profesori \u015fi dintre profesori \u015fi studen\u0163i ce treceau peste zidurile l\u0103ca\u015furilor sfinte \u00een care au avut loc la origine.<\/p>\n<p align=justify>\nCategoria social\u0103 ini\u0163ial\u0103 a intelectualilor din Evul Mediu occidental a fost aceea a <em>meseria\u015filor din ora\u015fe<\/em>: \u201epe \u015fantierul urban, profesorul, meseria\u015ful \u015fi negu\u0163\u0103torul merg al\u0103turi unul de altul \u00een acela\u015fi elan productiv\u201d. \u201eFunc\u0163ia sa este studiul \u015fi predarea <em>artelor liberale.<\/em> Dar ce este o <em>art\u0103<\/em> ? Nu este o \u015ftiin\u0163\u0103, este o tehnic\u0103\u2026este specialitatea profesorului, \u00eentocmai precum cea a dulgherului sau a fierarului\u201d<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn2\">[2]<\/a>. \u015ei tocmai ca \u015fi ceilal\u0163i meseria\u015fi din ora\u015fe, intelectualii s-au organizat \u00een corpora\u0163ii. Acestea vor fi \u201e<em>universit\u0103\u0163ile<\/em> \u00een sensul strict al cuv\u00e2ntului\u2026opera secolului al XIII-lea\u201d<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn3\">[3]<\/a>.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p align=justify>\nDar \u201ecum s\u0103 tr\u0103ie\u015fti ? Salariu sau beneficiu ?\u201d<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn4\">[4]<\/a> Ini\u0163ial, tendin\u0163a a fost de a primi bani de la studen\u0163i, pentru a avea o libertate fa\u0163\u0103 de \u201eputerea temporal\u0103: comuna, principele, biserica \u015fi chiar vreun mecena\u201d<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn5\">[5]<\/a>. Dar, tocmai pentru a lega intelectualii, Biserica a decretat gratuitatea \u00eenv\u0103\u0163\u0103m\u00e2ntului<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn6\">[6]<\/a>: ca urmare, \u00een universit\u0103\u0163i s-au p\u0103strat numai profesorii care acceptau dependen\u0163a fa\u0163\u0103 de Biseric\u0103, <em>accentu\u00e2ndu-se spiritul conformist<\/em> \u015fi, concret, pr\u0103pastia dintre cultura general\u0103 \u015fi forma\u0163ia tehnic\u0103 (deoarece aceasta din urm\u0103 nu avea nici un caracter religios direct). Opozi\u0163ia dintre munca fizic\u0103 \u015fi cea intelectual\u0103, reflect\u00e2nd stadiul real al for\u0163elor de produc\u0163ie, a fost, \u00een ideologia intelectualilor, rezultatul determin\u0103rii lor materiale \u2013 \u015fi spirituale \u2013 de c\u0103tre Biseric\u0103, \u015fi nu urmarea interesului lor de descifrare a problemelor muncii \u201edin moment ce ei \u00een\u015fi\u015fi se considerau muncitori\u201d<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn7\">[7]<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p align=justify>\nIntelectualii Evului Mediu au fost \u015fi ei \u00eemp\u0103r\u0163i\u0163i \u00een birocra\u0163ie \u00eenalt\u0103, medie \u015fi joas\u0103: unii o duceau bine, al\u0163ii erau ni\u015fte bie\u0163i \u201eh\u00e2r\u0163a-sc\u00e2r\u0163a pe h\u00e2rtie\u201d<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn8\">[8]<\/a>, \u201estudin\u0163i goi\u201d chiar dac\u0103 \u00eel cuno\u015fteau pe \u201eAristot\u201d<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn9\">[9]<\/a>, buchisind at\u00e2ta \u00eenc\u00e2t purtau ochelari<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn10\">[10]<\/a> dar dob\u00e2ndind \u015fi ascu\u0163imea min\u0163ii<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn11\">[11]<\/a>: chiar dac\u0103 nu erau nici \u201est\u0103p\u00e2n\u201d, nici \u201e\u015ferb\u201d, nici chiar \u201evl\u0103dic\u0103\u201d (birocrat supus)<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn12\">[12]<\/a>, unora nu le mai r\u0103m\u00e2nea dec\u00e2t \u201ecer\u015fitul\/c-a\u015fa-l \u00eempinge s\u0103r\u0103cia\u201d<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn13\">[13]<\/a>, adic\u0103 dec\u0103deau \u00een <em>lumpen<\/em>, fiin\u0163e rebele fa\u0163\u0103 de ordinea social\u0103<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn14\">[14]<\/a> \u015fi, \u00een acela\u015fi timp, fataliste<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn15\">[15]<\/a>. Pe de o parte, \u00eenv\u0103\u0163\u0103tura era rupt\u0103 de via\u0163\u0103 (\u015fi de aceea, destul de pu\u0163in atr\u0103g\u0103toare pentru cei mai mul\u0163i<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn16\">[16]<\/a>), iar pe de alt\u0103 parte, nu to\u0163i absolven\u0163ii puteau fi absorbi\u0163i \u00een locuri sociale cu beneficii semnificative. A\u015fadar, \u015fi intelectualii, indiferent de locul social concret pe care \u00eel ocupau, erau integra\u0163i \u00eentr-o societate inegalitar\u0103, nedemocratic\u0103, \u00een care \u201edreptatea cere \u015fi proptea\u201d<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn17\">[17]<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p align=justify>\nSf\u00e2r\u015fitul Evului Mediu a fost \u015fi perioada \u00een care \u201e\u00eentre apartenen\u0163a sa la lumea muncii pe de o parte, \u015fi, pe de alt\u0103 parte, integrarea lui \u00een grupurile sociale privilegiate, universitarul\u2026face o alegere definitiv\u0103: renun\u0163\u0103 treptat la calitatea lui de lucr\u0103tor intelectual\u201d\u2026\u015fi se integreaz\u0103 \u201e\u00een grupurile sociale privilegiate ce tr\u0103iesc de pe urma unor venituri de ordin feudal, seniorial, sau de ordin capitalist\u201d<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn18\">[18]<\/a>. Ca urmare,<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>acum \u201esec\u0103tuie\u015fte \u015fi p\u0103trunderea \u00een universitate a studen\u0163ilor de condi\u0163ie modest\u0103 care, \u00een trecut, fuseser\u0103 fermentul facult\u0103\u0163ilor\u201d<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn19\">[19]<\/a>,<\/li>\n<li>acum se recruteaz\u0103 personalul universitar \u00een mod ereditar, sc\u0103z\u00e2nd considerabil nivelul intelectual \u015fi transform\u00e2nd mediul universitar \u00eentr-o cast\u0103 (cu atributul esen\u0163ial, ereditatea social\u0103)<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn20\">[20]<\/a>,<\/li>\n<li>acum se dezvolt\u0103 privilegiile aferente, iar pozi\u0163ia social\u0103 \u00eenceteaz\u0103 de a mai fi a magistrului \u015fef de atelier pe \u015fantierul \u015fcolii \u00een secolul al XII-lea \u015fi devine aceea a magistrului echivalent cu <em>dominus<\/em><a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn21\">[21]<\/a>,<\/li>\n<li>acum are loc aristocratizarea universit\u0103\u0163ilor<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn22\">[22]<\/a>, cufundarea \u00een scolastic\u0103 \u015fi, datorit\u0103 crizei acesteia, \u015fi anti-intelectualismul intelectualilor conformi\u015fti (deci din aceste universit\u0103\u0163i)<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn23\">[23]<\/a>,<\/li>\n<li>acum \u00ee\u015fi pierd universit\u0103\u0163ile caracterul interna\u0163ional, universit\u0103\u0163ile na\u0163ionale fiind legate de formarea noilor comunit\u0103\u0163i na\u0163ionale de tip modern<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn24\">[24]<\/a>,<\/li>\n<li>a\u015fadar, acum devin universitarii sus\u0163in\u0103torii politicii particulariste \u2013 \u00een opozi\u0163ie cu universalismul politic legat de st\u0103p\u00e2nirea Bisericii \u015fi a imperiului,<\/li>\n<li>acum are loc ruptura dintre \u015ftiin\u0163\u0103 \u015fi \u00eenv\u0103\u0163\u0103m\u00e2nt iar universitatea devine locul \u201eumanioarelor\u201d, opuse ra\u0163ionalismului, \u00eenclinate spre poezie \u015fi mistic\u0103<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn25\">[25]<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=justify>\nO referin\u0163\u0103 emblematic\u0103 pentru studierea problemei oportunismului intelectualilor este critica lui Erasmus din Rotterdam, \u00een pamfletul s\u0103u <em>Elogiul nebuniei sau discurs spre lauda prostiei<\/em><a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn26\">[26]<\/a>, tocmai datorit\u0103 caracterului politic moderat, conformist, dar, \u00een acela\u015fi timp, umanist, critic, reformist<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn27\">[27]<\/a> al autorului. \u00centr-o perioad\u0103 \u00een care umanismul Rena\u015fterii tindea s\u0103 \u00eenlocuiasc\u0103 cli\u015feele medievale \u2013 care au continuat s\u0103 existe \u00eens\u0103 mult timp, p\u00e2n\u0103 la dezvoltarea primei revolu\u0163ii industriale \u2013 Erasmus a relevat <em>determinarea intelectualilor de c\u0103tre raporturile sociale<\/em> \u015fi, astfel, \u015fi solu\u0163iile lor la aceast\u0103 determinare. \u00cen locul ridic\u0103rii \u00een sl\u0103vi a vreunui principe, \u201eironia\u201d era de preferat, ca \u201epetrecerea &#8216;oamenilor de litere&#8217;\u201d<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn28\">[28]<\/a>, considera el. Spre deosebire de majoritatea care nu suporta nici cea mai \u201enevinovat\u0103 glum\u0103 pe seama popilor sau a \u00eemp\u0103ra\u0163ilor, \u00een special c\u00e2nd sunt \u00een joc interesele lor\u201d<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn29\">[29]<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p align=justify>\nDeja era \u00eencet\u0103\u0163enit obiceiul aservirii intelectualilor de c\u0103tre principii care aveau c\u00e2te \u201eun panegirist mieros\u201d, care se \u00eencumeta \u201es\u0103 a\u015feze \u00een r\u00e2ndul zeilor cea din urm\u0103 pramatie, s\u0103 dea drept model des\u0103v\u00e2r\u015fit al virtu\u0163ii pe cel pe care \u00eel \u015ftie cufundat \u00een toate viciile, s\u0103 \u00eempodobeasc\u0103 o cioar\u0103 cu pene de p\u0103un, s\u0103 \u00een\u0103lbeasc\u0103 pielea unui negru sau se str\u0103duie\u015fte s\u0103 fac\u0103 din musc\u0103 elefant\u201d<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn30\">[30]<\/a>. Dar Lingu\u015firea<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn31\">[31]<\/a> a fost pus\u0103 de Erasmus drept o \u00eenso\u0163itoare a Prostiei, adic\u0103 a ne-g\u00e2ndirii la consecin\u0163ele faptelor: ea este legat\u0103 de iubirea-de-sine \u2013 f\u0103r\u0103 de care nu s-ar \u00eentreprinde ceva \u00een via\u0163a public\u0103 sau particular\u0103 \u201edoar din bun\u0103-cuviin\u0163\u0103\u201d<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn32\">[32]<\/a> \u2013, de dragostea de faim\u0103<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn33\">[33]<\/a>  \u015fi de dezinteresul pentru ceilal\u0163i<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn34\">[34]<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p align=justify>\nOricum, dac\u0103 oamenii nu se comportau lingu\u015fitor erau socoti\u0163i nebuni de legat<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn35\">[35]<\/a>. Socotea oare Erasmus c\u0103 acest comportament este fatal? Mai degrab\u0103, dup\u0103 ce a insistat asupra determin\u0103rii istorice, a crezut c\u0103 el era rezultatul naturii umane \u015fi al societ\u0103\u0163ii<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn36\">[36]<\/a>. Iar determinarea intelectualilor consta \u00een<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>dispre\u0163uirea \u015ftiin\u0163elor care nu aduceau profituri imediate celor care beneficiau de pe urma lor \u015fi venituri imediate celor care le profesau<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn37\">[37]<\/a> \u015fi,<\/li>\n<li>mai profund, \u00een caracterul ira\u0163ional al societ\u0103\u0163ii \u2013 \u00een sensul c\u0103 nu cunoa\u015fterea \u015fi ra\u0163iunea erau cele care erau apropiate de oameni prin educa\u0163ie, deoarece acestea \u00eei f\u0103ceau s\u0103 fie cele mai nefericite animale, fiind singurele care nu se nu se \u00eemp\u0103cau cu propria soart\u0103<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn38\">[38]<\/a>,<\/li>\n<li>\u00een faptul c\u0103 regilor nu le place adev\u0103rul \u015fi se \u00eenconjoar\u0103 de lingu\u015fitori<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn39\">[39]<\/a>,<\/li>\n<li>\u00een puterea supersti\u0163iilor, care nu sunt defel rezultatul organic al tradi\u0163iilor populare ci sunt \u00eent\u0103rite \u015fi \u00eentre\u0163inute de preo\u0163i<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn40\">[40]<\/a>,<\/li>\n<li>\u00een puterea iluziilor despre lucruri<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn41\">[41]<\/a>,<\/li>\n<li>\u00een faptul c\u0103 prin\u0163ii \u015fi regii erau ne\u015ftiutori de legi, nep\u0103s\u0103tori la binele ob\u015ftei, umbl\u00e2nd s\u0103-\u015fi ticseasc\u0103 punga, \u015fi vr\u0103jma\u015fi ai libert\u0103\u0163ii<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn42\">[42]<\/a>,<\/li>\n<li>\u00een faptul c\u0103 cei mai mul\u0163i dintre curteni erau cei mai josnici, tic\u0103lo\u015fi, slugarnici \u015fi neto\u0163i dintre sclavi, plini de importan\u0163a func\u0163iei, \u00eenfumura\u0163i<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn43\">[43]<\/a>,<\/li>\n<li>c\u0103 toate categoriile de sus \u2013 capetele \u00eencoronate, popii, cardinalii \u015fi episcopii \u2013 duceau acela\u015fi trai, imita\u0163i de c\u0103tre preo\u0163ii de r\u00e2nd<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn44\">[44]<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Ca urmare, cel care se revolta \u201e\u00eempotriva condi\u0163iei umane\u201d, dorind s\u0103 previn\u0103 \u015fi s\u0103 \u00eendrume prin cuv\u00e2nt<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn45\">[45]<\/a>, avea o soart\u0103 nefast\u0103: de aceea, mai bine era \u201es\u0103 faci pe prostul la timpul potrivit\u201d<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn46\">[46]<\/a>. Iat\u0103 o trist\u0103 dar splendid\u0103 explica\u0163ie din secolul XVI pentru oportunismul intelectualilor. Ceea ce a urmat, \u00een secolele urm\u0103toare \u015fi p\u00e2n\u0103 ast\u0103zi, nu a adus dec\u00e2t diferen\u0163e de grad, \u015fi nu de esen\u0163\u0103, at\u00e2t \u00een determinarea social\u0103 a oportunismului c\u00e2t \u015fi \u00een descrierea  sa mai sofisticat\u0103 \u015fi mai ascuns\u0103.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=justify>\nA\u015fadar, din capul locului nu trebuie s\u0103 uit\u0103m premisa ontologic\u0103 a problemei noastre: faptul c\u0103 nici analiza intelectualilor \u015fi nici sondarea comportamentelor lor morale nu poate avea loc \u00een mod neutru<a title=\"\" href=\"#_edn47\">[47]<\/a>, pe baza unei \u00eenchipuite prezum\u0163ii a autonomiei lor (c\u0103ci superioritatea decurge \u00eentotdeauna \u015fi din autonomie, nu?). \u00cen \u00eentreaga istorie, \u015fi mai ales \u00een istoria deschis\u0103 de trecerea la modernitate, dac\u0103 intelectualii au exercitat o influen\u0163\u0103 notabil\u0103 asupra civiliza\u0163iei \u00een ansamblu, ei au suportat, \u015fi nu \u00een egal\u0103 m\u0103sur\u0103, o <em>presiune puternic\u0103 din partea de\u0163in\u0103torilor puterii:<\/em>  \u00een mod asimetric, \u201econjura\u0163ia\u201d institu\u0163iilor dominante \u2013 statul, bisericile, apoi partidele, apoi \u015fi institu\u0163iile interna\u0163ionale \u2013 au exercitat un puternic control asupra mediilor intelectuale, cenzuri, \u00eencadr\u0103ri ale universit\u0103\u0163ilor, conspira\u0163ia t\u0103cerii asupra pozi\u0163iilor non-conformiste, premierea intelectualilor alinia\u0163i etc.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=justify>\nBibliografie \u015fi note<\/p>\n<div><br clear=\"all\" \/><\/p>\n<hr align=\"left\" size=\"1\" width=\"33%\" \/>\n<div>\n<p><a title=\"\" href=\"#_ednref1\">[1]<\/a> Aparte de \u201eheralzi, curteni \u015fi paji\u201d, cf. <em>Testamentul cel mare al magistrului Fran\u00e7ois Villon, Balad\u0103 cu acela\u015fi t\u00e2lc<\/em> (1461), \u00een Fran\u00e7ois Villon, <em>Poezii.
