Cariera sa artistic\u0103 ampl\u0103 ofer\u0103 un periplu impresionant acoperind 50 de ani de perpetu\u0103 c\u0103utare \u015fi rafinare stilistic\u0103, prin care Bak creaz\u0103 o estetic\u0103 special\u0103 a unei lumi apocaliptice. Prin picturi el caut\u0103 s\u0103 vorbeasc\u0103 despre &#8220;ce nu se poate vorbi&#8221;, tinz\u00e2nd spre evadarea din moarte. O mare parte din picturile sale sunt interpret\u0103ri al miracolului supravie\u0163uirii.<br \/>\nEl simte nevoia de a diseca aceast\u0103 \u015fans\u0103 a vie\u0163ii, arat\u00e2ndu-ne cum un b\u0103iat de unsprezece ani vede ororile r\u0103zboiului. Picturile sale se distileaz\u0103 \u00een timp, se maturizeaz\u0103, procesul s\u0103u cognitiv se coace cu fiecare pictur\u0103.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=justify>\nBak s-a n\u0103scut n\u0103scut la Vilna (Lituania) \u00een 1933, \u00eentr-o familie de evrei m\u00e2ndri de identitatea lor. La 6 ani copilul este \u015focat de schimbarea brutal\u0103 a regimului \u015fi p\u0103r\u0103se\u015fte \u015fcoala.  Nazi\u015ftii apar cu o nou\u0103 ordine: ghetoul, ac\u0163iunile criminale, lag\u0103rele de munc\u0103,  iar evreii trec prin momente de mare disperare, de fug\u0103 \u015fi refugiu \u00een locuri incredibile. Bak \u00ee\u015fi pierde aproape toat\u0103 familia, doar el \u015fi mama sa reu\u015find s\u0103 se sustrag\u0103 m\u0103celului.  Tat\u0103l este \u00eempu\u015fcat \u00een 1944, cu c\u00e2teva zile \u00eenainte de eliberarea Vilnei de c\u0103tre armata sovietic\u0103.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=justify>\nBak nu era un om religios, dar era p\u0103truns de tradi\u0163ie \u015fi atmosfera spiritului evreiesc. \u00centr-o conversa\u0163ie avut\u0103 \u00een 1972 cu criticul A. Kaufman, Bak afirma<br \/>\n&#8220;\u00cen ultima mie de ani factorul major al picturii a stat \u00een povestea ei. Eu \u00eensumi am o istorie de povestit \u015fi m\u0103 simt dator s\u0103 plasez mesaje \u00een pictur\u0103. M\u0103 simt obligat nu de vreo religie, ci de starea metafizic\u0103 a lumii care nu are limite definite. Personal, datorez faptului c\u0103 nu am o fire religioas\u0103 salvarea mea fizic\u0103: dintr-o comunitate de 80000 de suflete numai 150 de persoane am sc\u0103pat cu via\u0163\u0103. \u00cen majoritatea picturilor mele ve\u0163i g\u0103si cel pu\u0163in un element \u00een ruin\u0103 simboliz\u00e2nd tinere\u0163ea, genera\u0163ia mea distrus\u0103.&#8221;<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=justify>\nBak ia lec\u0163ii de Idi\u015f, German\u0103 \u015fi Ebraic\u0103, studiaz\u0103 pictura la M\u00fcnchen. Acolo descoper\u0103 arta Bavariei \u015fi arta marilor mae\u015ftri. \u00cen 1948 Bak sose\u015fte \u00een Israel, \u00een plin r\u0103zboi de independen\u0163\u0103. Face serviciul militar \u00een armata israelian\u0103, apoi \u00een 1952 este admis la \u015fcoala de art\u0103 Bezalel din Ierusalim. Instaleaz\u0103 prima sa expozi\u0163ie  solo la Roma \u00een anul 1959. Din 1963 cap\u0103ta recunoa\u015ftere interna\u0163ional\u0103, \u015fi an de an apare \u00een expozi\u0163ii la Londra, Tel Aviv, Boston, Roma, Bruxelles etc.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=justify>\nO crea\u0163ie memorabil\u0103 a sa este <em>Familia<\/em> (1974), o pictur\u0103 de grup dedicat\u0103 celor pieri\u0163i. Personajele sunt dramatic expuse ca un ecou al suferin\u0163ei, pe fundal apar co\u015furi \u015fi fumul crematoriilor. Ca \u015fi \u00een alte picturi pe aceast\u0103 tem\u0103, Bak elaboreaz\u0103 ingredientele traumei v\u0103zute prin ochii unui copil, brusc maturizat. Tot Bak explic\u0103: &#8220;Nu eu am ales Holocaustul, el mi-a pus pe umeri acesta neostoit\u0103 sarcin\u0103 a m\u0103rturiei&#8221;.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=justify>\nPrivind arta lui Bak sim\u0163im c\u0103 tr\u0103im \u00eentr-o lume afectat\u0103 de trivial. Holocaustul este un subiect electrizant, artistul realizeaz\u0103 impactul magnitudinii no\u0163iunilor de via\u0163\u0103 \u015fi moarte asupra observatorului. Declara\u0163ia vizual\u0103 poate fi mai puternic\u0103 dec\u00e2t cea  narativ\u0103. Dar \u015fi retoricul picturii<br \/>\nare limite. De aceea Bak se aliaz\u0103 cu reputatul scriitor israelian Amos Oz. Rezultatul este cartea de memorii <em>Pictat cu cuvinte<\/em>, care devine o parte integral\u0103 a programelor americane de studiu ale Holocaustului.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=justify>\nDar Bak nu este deconectat de arta timpului s\u0103u. Alegoria sa \u00een care o par\u0103 arde d\u00e2nd na\u015ftere altor pere, pe fundalul unui ora\u015f semidistrus ne aminte\u015fte de lumea lui Bosch, unde na\u015fterea \u015fi moartea sunt simultan aspecte ale lumii \u00een care ne afl\u0103m. Stilul lui Bak a fost numit emblematic sau imaginar naturalist. G\u0103sim asem\u0103n\u0103ri cu suprarealismul unor pictori ca Miro, Ernst, Matta, dar influen\u0163ele decisive le cap\u0103t\u0103 de la pictorii Giorgio de Chirico, Dali, Magritte. \u015ei totu\u015fi diferen\u0163ele sunt enorme. Dac\u0103 Magritte este fascinant prin mesaj, dar pu\u0163in interesat de estetica final\u0103, Bak ne arat\u0103 o aten\u0163ie special\u0103 pentru suprafe\u0163e, o folosire senzual\u0103 a luminii \u015fi rezonan\u0163a culorilor. Peisajele sale amintesc de clasicul Leonardo sau de Van Eyck prin precizia detaliului \u015fi tratament.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=center>\n<img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i158.photobucket.com\/albums\/t103\/egophobia\/33\/bak\/bak.jpg?w=600\" ><br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=justify>\nDe la Dali Bak \u00eemprumuta virtuozitatea desenului \u015fi \u015ftiin\u0163a de a produce spa\u0163ii suprarealiste sc\u0103ldate de o lumin\u0103 aproape tangibil\u0103. Mai pu\u0163in exhibi\u0163ionist dec\u00e2t Dali, Bak se deta\u015feaz\u0103 treptat de provocativ, aleg\u00e2nd subiecte care par a exista \u00eentr-o lume fantastic\u0103, populat\u0103 de simboluri aparte: fructe imense, pere f\u0103cute din tabl\u0103, din piatr\u0103 sau \u00eempu\u015fcate (\u00een amintirea lui John Kennedy), \u00eengeri abuza\u0163i \u015fi neputincio\u015fi,  p\u0103s\u0103ri de metal \u00een zbor, ou\u0103 s\u00e2nger\u00e2nde sau \u00een dialog cu piese de \u015fah angajate \u00een jocuri f\u0103r\u0103 reguli, chei care deschid ziduri, obiecte sparte legate cu sfori sau curele, naturi moarte \u00eenc\u0103tu\u015fate \u00een centuri metalice, \u0163intuite cu nituri \u015fi balamale. Pretutindeni aluzii la efortul uman al unei nefericite repar\u0103ri. Bak insist\u0103 \u00een finisajul plastic spun\u00e2nd: &#8220;O pictur\u0103 este gata c\u00e2nd toate fragmentele sunt unite \u00eentr-un \u00eentreg indivizibil, c\u00e2nd \u015ftii c\u0103 nu mai po\u0163i ad\u0103uga sau sustrage vreun element. Pictura e terminat\u0103 c\u00e2nd cap\u0103t\u0103 o densitate egal\u0103 \u015fi c\u00e2nd vidul a disp\u0103rut.  Eu tratez un col\u0163 de cer sau centrul tabloului cu acela\u015fi respect \u015fi grij\u0103, Vermeer de exemplu, a reu\u015fit perfect s\u0103 transfere imaginea pe p\u00e2nz\u0103 f\u0103r\u0103 s\u0103-i altereze spiritul, apoi pictorul se retrage \u00een umbr\u0103&#8221;. \u00cen ultimul deceniu Bak reia seria de picturi <em>\u00cengerul C\u0103l\u0103torilor<\/em> sub influen\u0163a lui Albrecht D\u00fcrer, iar \u00eentr-o recent\u0103 serie de 125 desene \u015fi picturi mixte numit\u0103 <em>Adam \u015fi Eva<\/em>, artistul plaseaz\u0103 cuplul biblic \u00eentr-o dilem\u0103 \u00een care un Dumnezeu care a n\u0103scut omul \u015fi promis s\u0103 nu-l distrug\u0103 devine un personaj confuz, dezorientat de lumea stranie de dup\u0103 r\u0103zboi.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=justify>\n\u00cen iarna anului 1972 Bak scrie unui edituri de art\u0103: &#8220;Timpul nostru este umbrit de pericole, picturile mele exprim\u0103 poten\u0163ialul destructiv care exist\u0103 \u015fi se acumuleaz\u0103 \u00een lipsa efortului de a ra\u0163iona \u015fi \u00eenl\u0103tura r\u0103ul.&#8221; La 77 de ani artistul continua s\u0103 trateze cu luciditate cea mai mare tragedie a planetei \u015fi atrocit\u0103\u0163ile sale.
