***

The eventide. The cold.

The bus has left.

It left behind an empty stop.

Again, you wait.

Your thoughts are disarrayed.

The way you got here, you forgot.

The words she said: “Look for another”,

Whirled like an Aztec whistle’s sound,

Roared like a howl through the night,

Went through my body, like an arrow…

And killed all that was left alive,

And filled my veins with pain, like venom.

The darkness. All the stars have died.

…But then, I felt the warmth.

My heart’s alive, the pain has passed.

Once again I see the sun

Blinking through the broken glass.

                   ***

I’ve seen a lot of pain

I will never forget.

When you walk in the field,

It makes you want to yell.

Burnt out children’s faces

Are flashing through your eyes,

The tears of their mothers

Pour down the skies.

Your hands are full of woe –

The sake is single bliss.

Fight, until it’s gone.

Whatever it takes.

Misfortune is the fear

That tears your soul apart,

But only God can see

How you should play your part.
